A few months into the second term of President Reagan the Chicago Tribune published an editorial that outlined how the Reagan Administration, from the very top to the very bottom, was the most corrupt administration since Ulysses S. Grant.
And yet, look at how Reagan continues to be canonized to this day. Here in your home state of Illinois they even named a section of a toll road after him. That does seem appropriate considering how toll roads gouge the middle and working class, very much like Republicans in general.
But I digress.
Getting through these supposed scandals plaguing your administration should be easy. Put people you trust in charge of seeing them through to their logical conclusions. Of course the Republicans will continue to raise a stink, but you’ll have people in charge to take care of that.
You should be spending your time and mental energy doing all those things you said you would do that ultimately got you elected a second time. Worrying about the details of these scandals isn’t worth it. They will eventually wind down and in the long run amount to nothing.
Focus and get those other things done. That’s why I voted for you, not for you to sit around looking worried every time someone points a camera at you.
I hope you heed this tiny bit of advice.
And, if you ever give up that basketball thing and want to try your hand at wading small rivers and creeks in pursuit of smallmouth bass, give me a call. There’s nothing better than standing in the middle of running water, feeling it push against your legs and taking in some beautiful surroundings to get the days troubles out of your head.
I know lots of places where that can be accomplished, right here in your home state.
Sincerely,
Ken Gortowski

15 May 2013Amen. I’m still happy with the job he’s doing. Can’t say that about the two US Senators from my home state of KY. Two of the biggest obstructionist in the crowd, McConnell and Rand. Eeeesh. I didn’t vote for either of them.

16 May 2013During his second term Pam he shouldn’t even be getting mired in these things. Delegate and move on. There’s too many other things that need to get done.
I want to know when obstructionism became part of the political process. It’s appalling.

15 May 2013I for one am deeply disappointed in Obama, to say the least. His unwillingness to undo the totalitarian policies of the last presidency, and his willingness to further them and continue entrenching them in American government (if disappearing people even qualifies as “government”) literally nauseate me. The guy hasn’t even closed Guantanamo. If ever there were an act that posterity couldn’t possibly condemn, it’s that.
There really aren’t any other issues until these are resolved. Anything else pales in comparison. It comes down to whether America is even America.
Apparently not.

16 May 2013You would think he would have learned what to do during a second term by watching his predecessors Robin. And I agree on Guantanamo. It seems politically that we’re mired in issues that no one knows how to deal with, so they do nothing. Status quo. I’d rather see effort turn into possible failure than no effort at all.

I agree with you on a lot of things, but, I see this a different way. I think the problem here is he DID put people in charge he trusts and this is what happened. The details of Americans under attack on foreign soil and being abandoned deserves a second look especially when all of us are fed stories by the administration of what ‘happened’. I voted for him the first time thinking he would help the regular guys like us and change things yet I felt a bit let down to say the least.
The good thing is, no matter what we think of all this, the fish bite the same and the rivers still flow.
